Frequently asked questions
-
What if my insurance is out-of-network?
Regardless of your healthcare coverage, we want to work with you. Trek is in-network with most insurance plans, and if your insurance is out of network, our affordable cash-pay options make care accessible. Contact us for current rates.

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
The state of Oregon allows for direct-access to physical therapy. This means most commercial insurances do not require a referral. Call us if you have questions about your insurance.
-
What can I expect on my first visit?
You will have a 1:1 appointment with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. During this time, your physical therapist will complete a thorough assessment of your problem and relevant medical history. We’ll set up a plan to get you on the path to healing and performance. Learn more about your first physical therapy visit on our blog.

Why physical therapy?
Research consistently links exercise, activity, and specific management of medical conditions to elevated health, reduced pain, and increased function. Our education focuses on your autonomous management of symptoms, giving you benefit from treatment long after our sessions have concluded. The active treatment approach we take puts you in control for lasting health benefits. Trek's therapists are Doctors of Physical Therapy. This comes with an elevated understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, targeted interventions, and manual therapy.

Do you treat car accident or work injuries?
Yes — we treat both motor vehicle accident (MVA) and workers’ compensation injuries. At Trek Physical Therapy, we use objective testing and tracking tools, including VALD performance technology, to measure strength, symmetry, and functional progress throughout your recovery. This allows us to clearly demonstrate your progress to you, your provider, and your workers’ compensation team or MVA adjuster.

Should I start physical therapy right after a car accident?
Early treatment is often an important factor in recovery. Even if symptoms feel mild at first, injuries from car accidents can appear hours or days later, and starting care early may help reduce pain and prevent long-term issues.
It’s also important to first screen for more serious injuries. At Trek Physical Therapy, we perform a thorough evaluation and will connect you with additional medical care when indicated to ensure it’s safe to begin treatment.
